What is the time limit for car accident cases in Michigan?

The statute of limitations is the time period in which a person must file a lawsuit after an incident. It is the deadline for filing claims. In general, a lawsuit against a negligent driver in a car accident must be filed within three years of the date of the accident. The time frame for filing no-fault insurance claims and uninsured motorist claims is usually one year. In some cases, there are exceptions to these time limits.
